How to Draw Straight Line Microsoft Paint

Thank you for posting the question in Microsoft Community!

You want to know how to draw a straight line in fresh paint.

a. Open fresh paint.

b. Right click in the screen and you will get the tools option at the top

c. Select the tool with which you want to draw

d. In the space to draw, press the left key of mouse and draw line. If you are using a touchpad or touchscreen, tap and move.

how do i draw a straight line ? thanks 

Fresh Paint is an artistic app to help you express yourself creatively.  As such, we decided to provide you with a digital simulation of the physical analog to real artistic painting.

As such, there is no tool within Fresh Paint that forces you to draw a straight line.

A lot of artists will use a ruler at some point in their paintings e.g. for a horizon line or rigging on a boat.

Maybe it could be added in a future release.

well, how can I get the old paint back. Artistic creativity is great but when you are needing to be precise for practical business operations I find that not being able to draw a straight line is extremely frustrating and the different abilities are missing such as arrows, and other items to be used for legends

" Forces" us to draw a straight line? What kind of reply is that? How about "allows" us to draw a straight line. This reduces the usefulness of this program for a lot of people, including me.

Seriously! I use rulers and curve templates FREQUENTLY when I draw or paint.

I don't understand, this application is being touted as a Windows Ink example yet it does not include the ruler you see in other Windows Ink apps, like sketchpad.

Please, this is a much needed missing featuer.

If there is no specific tool in a software to help you draw a straight line, here's what you can do:

1. Have a book which has at least 150 pages to ready be used as a ruler*,

2. Place the top left corner of the mouse against the spine of the book,

3. Press and hold down the left key of the mouse, and

4. Move the mouse along spine of the book while holding it firmly with your hand.

Position your mouse and your book in such a way you can draw the line you want. It can be tricky at first but once you get used to it, it will be a piece of cake for you.  If necessary, angle your mouse until the desired direction is achieved.

*Alternatively, you can use a thick smooth stick or a pair of chopsticks.
